The Richland-Lexington Airport Commission is pleased to welcome Dan Bell as its newest Commission member. Bell was appointed by the Lexington County Legislative Delegation and replaces Commissioner Robert “Bob” Price who served on the Commission for over eight years.
Bell is the President of Dan Bell & Co., Inc. which specializes in international market and foundry development for larger cast iron parts for the wind, locomotive, turbine, and construction equipment markets. For 14 years he worked for ThyssenKrupp and their Brazilian operations, followed by Neenah Foundry of Neenah, Wisconsin, URV of Finland, and currently Yeong Guan Energy Technology Group of Taiwan. A graduate of the University of South Carolina, Bell has 40 years’ experience in supply chain, logistics, capacity utilization, and international market development in the iron and steel industries.
Not a stranger to community service, Bell is serving his second term on the Lexington County Department of Social Services Board. On his appointment to the Commission Bell says that he is looking forward to being a part of an organization that plays such an important economic role in the development and quality of life in the Midlands. “The Columbia Metropolitan Airport is a resource to this community with great opportunities and I’m pleased to now serve the Richland – Lexington Airport District,” says Bell.
The Richland-Lexington Airport Commission serves as the governing body of the Richland-Lexington Airport District, a political sub-division of the State of South Carolina. It is composed of five appointees from Richland and Lexington Counties each and two from the City of Columbia. They hold public meetings monthly at 4pm in the airport terminal. 2014 meeting dates are as follows:
