In the wake of historic flooding that hit South Carolina in October 2015, Columbia Metropolitan Airport was able to answer the call for support by partnering with the Salvation Army and WACH FOX 57 to assist with collecting luggage for evacuees and provide storage space for dehumidifiers and other appliances that were generously donated by Electrolux.
Through the luggage drive, well over 700 suitcases were successfully collected and distributed in the weeks immediately following the flood.
Now, with the holiday season upon us and families rebuilding, the airport and its partners look forward to continuing to support our neighbors and provide much needed appliances as they are needed.
Kacey Liles, Marketing Consultant with WACH Fox 57, was instrumental in facilitating partnership efforts and has expressed her gratitude for having a generous network to call on when needed. “When I reached out to my clients, and CAE, Safe Federal Credit Union, and Auto Pros Columbia agreed to give a monetary donation to help me use resources at the station to serve our community, I never dreamed we'd be able to make such a difference for so many people. I couldn't be more grateful to work with such a great group of people.”
