“Home for the Holidays” Contest Rules
Columbia Metropolitan Airport’s Home for the Holidays begins Wednesday, September 6, 2017 and ends on Friday, October 6, 2017 at 11:59 p.m. EST. Two Active Duty or full-time Reserve or National Guard Service Members will be selected to fly home for the holidays either to or from the Columbia Metropolitan Airport (CAE).
How to Enter
To participate, please submit a letter with a minimum of 300 words explaining why your Service Member should be selected to fly home for the holidays. Service members are also eligible to nominate themselves. To submit your letter for Home for the Holidays, please fill out the online form at columbiaairport.com or entries may be mailed to: Home for the Holidays Columbia Metropolitan Airport 3250 Airport Boulevard West Columbia, SC 29170 Please include your name, address, telephone number, and email address. Also include the Service Member’s rank; location/station; address; destination of home if departing from CAE; requested travel dates; telephone number, and email address. Online entries will be accepted until Friday, October 6, 2017 at 11:59 p.m. EST. Mailed entries must be postmarked no later than Friday, October 6, 2017. For entries submitted by mail or Internet, Columbia Metropolitan Airport is not responsible for lost, stolen, mutilated, misdelivered, postage-due, illegible, or untimely entries, difficulty accessing the Internet; service outages or delays; computer difficulties, or other technological glitches.
Employees of Columbia Metropolitan Airport and their immediate families are ineligible. Immediate family is defined as parents; children; in-laws; spouses; those in spouse-like relationships; and siblings including those in step and half relations living in the same household. Only one entry per Service Member per household is allowed. Service Members must be on active duty or be full-time guard members, and also be eligible for leave. Travel must be made between December 1, 2017 and January 31, 2018. Inability to travel during these dates will forfeit eligibility. Eligibility must be determined within 14 business days from selection. If the winning entry is deemed ineligible, another entry will be selected and the process will continue until each trip is awarded. If all entries are deemed ineligible, no trips will be awarded.
Selection of Winners
All entries will be read by a committee. Two entries will be selected for either domestic and/or international travel based on emotional appeal, family story, and Service Member’s ability to travel between December 1, 2017 and January 31, 2018. Each winning Service Member will receive 1 free round-trip economy class airline ticket to Columbia Metropolitan Airport from where the Service Member is stationed or from Columbia Metropolitan Airport to the Service Member’s home airport. Tickets are not transferable and may not be substituted for or redeemed for cash. Winning entries will be selected by Thursday, October 12, 2017.
By participating in Home for the Holidays, the winners agree to allow their names, voices, and/or likeness to be used in any advertising, social media platform, or broadcasting material relating to Home for the Holidays for a period of 14 months without additional financial or other compensation. Each winner must provide proper military identification to the Columbia Metropolitan Airport and sign a statement verifying eligibility prior to acceptance of ticket. Columbia Metropolitan Airport at its sole discretion, reserves the right to disqualify any person tampering with the entry process, the operation of the Columbia Metropolitan Airport website, or who is otherwise in violation of the rules. The airport further reserves the right to cancel, terminate, or modify the contest if it cannot be completed as planned, for any reason including but not limited to infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, or technical failures of any sort. These rules are subject to the sole interpretation of the Columbia Metropolitan Airport. Any aspect of these rules, including substitution of a prize or prizes of equivalent or greater value and travel dates, can be changed at the sole discretion of Columbia Metropolitan Airport and such change(s) will become effective immediately online at columbiaairport.com. No purchase is necessary. The contest is void where prohibited. Failure to comply with the contest rules may result in an individual’s disqualification, at the sole discretion of the Columbia Metropolitan Airport.
